Two Seconds

I lost my echolocation
I lost my echolocation
I lost my echolocation

My only indication
Of my ever-changing situation
I lost my concentration
Dropped in puddle mud

I looked up
Face to bird face
To see a hummingbird
Eye-level stutter stepping
Musta thought I was a bright flower
As I sat stationary
Orange shirt writing in the sun

I looked up directly into
Her or his
Freeze-Frame Face

Animated as I moved
She or he hesitated in place
Like a boxer in training
Stutter stepping

Scat singing!

Dancing this hesitating levitation
A flying herky motion

Musta lasted two long seconds
As we both surprised each other
